156 new dengue cases in last 24 hrs!

LAHORE: During the last 24 hours, 142 cases of dengue virus in Lahore and 14 in the city suburbs have been reported, which are being treated in various government hospitals figures issued by the Punjab Health Department said on Sunday.
The figures continued to claim that around 1,599 patients have recovered from the dengue virus and been discharged from government hospitals, while 157 dengue patients are still being treated. One patient was reported to have expired of the disease over the last 24 hours.
According to health department experts, dengue virus cases have registered a drop, as only 157 cases were reported on October 31 compared to 241 on October 30. A health department spokesman said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had ordered bringing platelets from Karachi and Islamabad to meet the demands of dengue patients.
‘About 350 dengue kits available, 1,000 on their way'” 350 platelets kits are available with the Health Department whereas further 1000 kits are being imported through a special plane from France for the treatment of dengue patients, the Punjab government said on Sunday. PML-N MPAs Mian Marghoob Ahmed and Ajasam Sharif, Dr. Asad Ashraf, Mian Naseer Ahmed said upon visiting dengue patients in different hospitals.
They said that a Monitoring Committee consisting of Muslim League-N parliamentarians belonging to Lahore had been constituted. On this occasion, Mayo Hospital Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Abdul Majeed informed the parliamentarians that 28 dengue virus patients were under-treatment in Mayo hospital whereas 122 patients had been discharged after a successful recovery.
The General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Salah Uddin informed that at present 45 dengue virus patients were under treatment in the hospital out of which 5 were women and their condition was out of danger.
