The federal cabinet will meet at Governor’s House Lahore today (Wednesday) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to take up the country’s law and order situation and other important issues.
It will be the second federal cabinet meeting in the provincial capital during the PPP government’s tenure. Sources said the PPP-led government had organised several cabinet meetings in provincial capitals and it intended to hold more such meeting in Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar as well.
They said the cabinet would discuss the proposed Rs 50 per 40kg increase in support price of wheat and the draft of the reformed GST was also likely to be taken up. The cabinet would also review the progress on the Pak-US strategic dialogue, the sources said, adding that the prime minister would take the cabinet into confidence over the security arrangements that had been made across the country to curb terrorist activities.
