Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan on Saturday said that metro bus projects would be started in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan during current financial year.
He said that Rs 3 billion have been allocated as subsidy in the next financial year’s budget to facilitate the people.
In a statement, Hasaan said the Punjab government’s budget was reflective of public aspirations in which Rs 210 billion have been allocated for education and Rs 82 billion for health sectors. He termed the announcement of provision of missing facilities to government schools of the province during next two years as a historic step and said that educational standards would enhance substantially in the province due to allocation of Rs 7.5 billion for this purpose. He said that through the construction of six new Daanish schools, quality education will be imparted to the poor children.
Hasaan said that the decision for effective enforcement of agriculture income tax law on landlords and the luxury tax on two kanals and big bungalows for the first time in the history of the country was a welcoming step. He said the decision of issuing health cards to the less-privileged segments of the society for providing best treatment facilities also reflected the public priorities of the Punjab government.
He said that 30 percent curtailment in the budget of the Chief Minister’s Office and 15 percent in the expenditure of all provincial departments, ban on buying of vehicles and withdrawal of discretionary grant and furniture grant for the houses of provincial ministers are steps which could only be taken by CM Shahbaz Sharif.
He said further the government had planned to generate electricity on war footing in the province and Rs 20.43 billion have been allocated for various development projects in energy sector. He said the decision of providing tube wells to the farmers to be run through solar energy and biogas will provide a foundation of an agriculture revolution in the province.
