Pakistanis throw support behind Romney: poll

A new poll conducted by the BBC World Service has found that Pakistan is the only overseas country of those polled that said they would prefer to see Republican US presidential candidate Mitt Romney win the November elections. According to the poll, both US presidential candidates were given less than 20 percent approval by the Pakistanis, with Romney leading by a narrow margin. Aside from Pakistan, the poll found “sharply higher” overseas approval of US President Barack Obama in general. An average of 50 percent of those polled favoured Obama, with 9 percent favouring Romney, in the survey of over 20,000 people in 21 countries.France was the most strongly pro-Obama, with approval standing at 72 percent, followed by Australia, Kenya, Nigeria and Canada. The survey was conducted by GlobeScan/PIPA between July 3 and September 3, 2012.

One Response to Pakistanis throw support behind Romney: poll

  1. Beatle says:

Its not any love-lost for the guy, but should be seen in the context of anti-US snetiments of Pakistnis. In the last debate, both candidates expressed similar policy towards Pakistan and if Romney wins the November elections, people here will turn against him within 3 months.
