RCB confiscates six truckloads of goods
RAWALPINDI - The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has confiscated six trucks loaded with goods from different markets in its campaign against encroachments while fines were imposed on a number of shopkeepers.
The anti-encroachment operation had been further intensified in the RCB areas and was aimed at providing relief to the citizens who frequently visited the markets.
According to the RCB Additional Executive Cantonment Officer (AECO) Shakeel Anwar Jappa, the grand clean-up operation against encroachments was underway in the RCB areas and had been accelerated under the special instructions of the Station Commander Rawalpindi.
He said that the RCB markets were being regularly visited by the board officials and the staff concerned who had been conducting raids at the main markets of the area. Six truckloads were confiscated during the last three days from different areas.
The vendors who were found selling their products on the footpaths and different roads were slammed with fines and warnings, he said.
He said that strict action would be taken against those violating the orders.
He further informed that unwrapped tyres were also being confiscated from the markets under a special campaign being run against dengue.
The RCB officials warned the shopkeepers that tyres, new and old, should be properly packed and covered which would help reduce the risk of dengue epidemic in the city.
Jappa urged the tyre shops owners to cooperate with the staff of the RCB so that solid steps could be taken to control the spread of dengue in the cantonment area.
