15 wounded at film protest: hospital
PESHAWAR - At least 15 people, including three police officers, were wounded on Friday in clashes at a Peshawar protest against an anti-Islam film made in the United States, a hospital official said.
A driver working for private TV station ARY is in a critical condition and hooked up to a ventilator, said Doctor Mukhtar Khan, head of the Lady Reading Hospital.
"We have received 15 wounded so far. They include three police officials. Some have received bullet wounds. Some were hurt by tear gas and others suffered injuries due to the pelting of stones by protesters," Khan told AFP.
The man's employer reported that the driver was killed when a policeman opened fire on protesters who stormed a cinema, ransacked the building and set it alight.
"We consider this incident murder. We strongly condemn it. The policeman involved in the firing incident should be arrested immediately and sacked," senior ARY executive Owais Tohid told a news conference.
The channel broadcast disturbing footage of its employee, clearly in a critical condition and receiving urgent medical care in hospital, which was condemned by commentators on microblogging website Twitter.

This must be the only country in the world that does not have a "national thanksgiving day". We do have a "forget Kashmir day", "Takebeer day" and now this latest addition "blasphemy day". Long ago I suggested that Takebeer day (may 28th) should be made National thanksgiving day. Now i think we need a NATIONAL "visit a shrink day". Sept21, is as good as any

God save us from such kind of love expressions which we are seeing for last two days.I am sure that tIslam as religion wont have last for some years if such kind of lovers were asked to spread the message of Islam to others.What ever the immature mob is doing has no linked with any kind of protest but should be rejected .It is some sponsored riots to gain something .
