LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Senator Pervez Rasheed said that Islamabad does not come under the jurisdiction of Punjab and it was the responsibility of the federal government to disperse protesters in the capital.
Rasheed was responding to a statement issued by Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira alleging that the Punjab government was responsible for protesters entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi and Murree.
Protesters had stormed into the federal capital to lay siege at the diplomatic enclave. They clashed with the police and when their number rose to thousands, Army was called in to disperse the mob.
The information minister has appealed to protesters to remain peaceful. He also urged political and religious parties to refrain from fuelling hate. Kaira added that Pakistan was the only Muslim country which had declared to observe “Ishq-e-Rasool” (PBUH) day on Friday to protest against ‘Innocence of Muslims.’
