Security beefed up in Punjab after Karachi, Peshawar blasts

LAHORE - Punjab Inspector General Police Habib Ur Rehman has beefed up security in the province following the blasts in Karachi and Peshawar. The IGP has directed all regional, city and district police officers to be on “high alert” to ensure maintenance of law and order in their respective jurisdictions. He has also directed the police officers to deploy policemen in plain clothes at all markets and public places. An increase in patrolling around railway stations, bus terminals, bus stops, cinema halls, hotels, mosques, churches, hospitals and educational institutes of all urban areas has been ordered.
