LHC summons response from Punjab govt over doctors’ strike

LAHORE - Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed Secretary Health Punjab to submit a response pertaining to a contempt of court petition filed against the Young Doctor’s Association (YDA).
LHC resumed the hearing of a contempt of court case against YDA. During the hearing, the petitioner argued that the young doctors, disregarding the court’s orders, had continued their protest and therefore committed contempt of court.
The petitioner said that the YDA strike had caused trouble for patients and some of them had lost their lives during the strike.
“The court should give orders to take grave action against the doctors,” the petitioner pleaded.
Justice Ejaz-ul-Haq of LHC summoned a detailed response from the Punjab government and Secretary Health Punjab by September 25.
