Missing persons: CJ refuses meeting with UN group

CJP

ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry declined to meet a delegation of the United Nations visiting Pakistan in connection with the missing persons.
It should be mentioned here that the UN’s Working Group came to Pakistan to take stock of the issue relating the missing persons in Pakistan.
Sources said the chief justice Chaudhry refused the request by the UN delegation saying, "There are cases pending before the court regading the issue; hence, the meeting cannot be held over the issue."
It is pertinent to note here that the UN’s group solicited the Chief Justice for the meeting through Pakistan’s foreign ministry.

One Response to Missing persons: CJ refuses meeting with UN group

  1. A Reader @TrSp says:

Whereas the issue of missing persons is extremely important to Pakistan Chief Justice's response is appropriate.

In order to avoid becoming prejudicial CJ can not discuss cases he is hearing with the others members of the superior judiciary with another body.
