US investigators arrive to probe Peshawar blast
WASHINGTON - FBI agents have arrived in Pakistan and will work with Pakistani counterparts to inspect the blast site and vehicles damaged in the explosion, according to media reports.
The FBI team will work alongside Pakistani investigators as they are searching for clues to who was behind Monday's blast in the northwestern city of Peshawar, in which an attacker rammed his explosives-laden car into US consulate vehicle.
Two American and two Pakistani consulate employees were wounded in the bombing, the deadliest attack targeting Americans in the country in more than two years.
"An FBI team is leading the investigation of the Peshawar blast on behalf of the US government. We are closely coordinating with the Pakistan government," US State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell told reporters in Washington on Tuesday.
