ISLAMABAD - PPP MNA and National Commission of Human Development chairperson Nafisa Shah, on Tuesday, has said that blasphemy law is misused in Rimsha Masih case.
Talking on point of order in the National Assembly, she maintained that Rimsha case has clarified that blasphemy law is being wrongly used and, therefore, the ministry of religious affairs would take action in this regard.
She said that all political parties including opposition parties and religious leaders must come together to find a solution to this issue, which is creating insecurity among the minorities.
“It is important to build consensus and recognise that there is a need to find ways to prevent such incidents where poor and disadvantaged communities are falsely charged,” Nafisa Shah added.
The PPP leader said that due to the misuse of blasphemy law it defamed Islam and country abroad.

Blasphemy has become a tool to torture people. Its not followed in true spirit. Why government is helpless infront of all this because they are enjoying a new issue to divert public attention and won’t resolve this.
the action of the so call immam has put the whole Pakistani muslim nation to shame. It does not say anywhere in Quran that under previliged non muslim minority should be treated in a humiliating way, specially an innocent girl. The so called Immam should be lashed to death so that an example is set and no one will make a mockery of the blasphemy law.
Good woman! She has used her education, her wisdom to make that statement…. She is behaving like a mature politician should..
