Bukhari stresses for enhanced Pak-Argentine trade relations

ISLAMABAD - Acting President Nayyer Hussain Bukhari has said that Pakistan and Argentina enjoy cordial bilateral relations, adding that these ties were built on mutually beneficial cooperation in diverse fields besides having similarity of views on international, regional and bilateral matters of common interest.
He expressed these views while talking to ambassador of Argentina Mr. Rodolfo J. Martin Saravia, who called on him in Parliament House.
Acting President underlined the need for enhanced cooperation in trade and commerce and said that Pakistan offers conducive environment for investment and there was a dire need to search new avenues of cooperation for benefit of the people of two countries. He expressed the confidence that Preferential Trade Agreement would be mutually beneficial in facilitating trade between the two countries.
Bukhari also emphasized more people to people contacts, particularly exchange of delegations at parliamentary and other levels to promote greater cooperation between two parliaments. He said that close interaction between the parliamentarians would help create more understanding and bringing the two countries much closer to each other.
He appreciated the MOU on cultural cooperation which is being negotiated between the two countries, saying that such initiatives would help promote greater people to people contacts.
He also appreciated measures of the government of Argentina to root out corruption besides advocacy of human rights issues.
The Acting President also felicitated the ambassador for assuming the charge of dean of diplomatic corps in Islamabad .
Ambassador of Argentina Mr. Rodolfo J. Martin Saravia agreed with the views of Acting President and expressed that there was a huge scope for investment in pharmaceutical, oil and gas, meat processing, transport and other sectors. He said that we are keenly working to bring investment in these sectors.
He also briefed Bukhari about transportation of compressed gas to industrial and other sectors to meet their energy needs. He was of the view that greater people to people contact, particularly at the parliamentary level, would help further strengthening the ties, consolidating the bond of friendship between two countries.
He stated that both Pakistan and Argentina enjoy excellent cooperation at International fora. He said that he will not forget the love and affection of people of Pakistan.
Acting President assured his all out cooperation to further consolidate ties in various fields. He expressed his well wishes to the government and people of Argentina.
