Cardinal to contest Rimsha’s case

FRENCH CARDINAL

VATICAN CITY - French cardinal Jean Louis Tauran has announced to contest the case of 11-year old Christian girl Rimsha, allegedly accused of burning Quranic verses.
A French media source, has quoted an interview by cardinal in which he has said that the alleged girl was illiterate, who could not read or write.
Cardinal Jean, who is incharge of interfaith dialogue chapter in the Vatican, also said that the accused girl was a filth scavenger for her livelihood, and was definitely not obvious of the contents of the already discarded book.
Declaring the issue as a serious and quite conflicting, he stressed on a dialogue over the issue, as it was impossible for an underage, illiterate girl to express her views about Quranic verses.

  1. Wondering why is our government sleeping over the issue. Cardinal has made the right decision to save her.

why is that only west takes notice of these kinda news and totally ignore the news regarding Burma muslims…Pakistan media reported this negative news to malign the image of pakistan infront of the whole world but not a single news regarding any atrocities on burma muslims…pakistan is being projected like as if every bad thing in the world is happening in pakistan…this is totally wrong…so many bad things are happening in other countries but their media are cautious about their international image..

    • Reet says:

Bcause the world is fed-up with your terrorist activities and shameless denials. Muslims are creating trouble everywhere. Muslims countries treat non-muslims like animals even though all secular democracies give equal rights to muslims. Muslims misuse those rights, shamesslessly multiply their population, abusing social benefits and establish state within states. People are fed-up. IN all major conflicts, one side is muslim. These are muslims which push Christians, Budhists and Hindus to wall and these people are only reacting in self defence. I think all non-muslim majority countries should treat muslims in same way.

  5. Clarence says:

Please let the poor child be free…

  7. Zeta says:

can we release the girl already? enough of this humiliation

  8. Saqib Tahir says:

I don't think cardinal can do anything. The only way to save Pakistani minorities is to impose international sanctions.

    • Zeta says:

Why you wanna punish entire country because of actions of few. Believe me, Extremists constitute very small percentage in our country.

      • Saqib Tahir says:

I agree that majority is moderate but they are silent. Urdu media is promoting extremism. They are more concerned in terrorists being killed in drone strikes than Persecution and slaughter of ethnic and religious minorities. Government does nothing for the fear of backlash from Mullas. So the entire nation is part of these inhumane acts.

I may sound frustrated but my frustration is justified.

    • SKfro says:

      Idiotic comment.

The present govt. should be sentenced for treason against state & corruption. Then and only then with education for literacy for all, can we rise. InshaAllah.

Please don't put your life in danger. Our whole system is in the strong grip of this type of mindset. If once caught under blasphemy laws or indicted in these laws then there is no way out. There are several cases in which many are killed even in custody and if not then after their release. The best thing is to raise this issue in UN because now not only Christians but also other minorities are being victimized.

  11. M.T says:

The Executive should have the moral courage to stand upo and protect this minor girl. If it was a Qaida, than it was no more than an Arabic Alphabet learning book, not a the Holy Quran. This madness must stop now and sanity must prevail. Blasphemy occurs when people take oath on a Quran and state lies, when Mush violated his oath taken on Quran as was done by Zia ul Haq and others before him.

    • Hamid Khan says:

Executive is very busy is looting and pludering. This will never be their concern. When going will be be tough for them, they will just pack up theor bags. The elite is full of fuedal lord (war lord) and sell even their mother for their agenda. Dont expect anything from them. They break the law of land every day.

  12. tahir says:

I wish u could also fight for the poor people of pakistan as well

  13. gulrez says:

M.t has made the right point.hang most of the people in parliament for taking oath to work for the welfare of people and country but what they are doing?looting?corruption?and what not.think about it.

  14. justice seeker says:

    That is a good news.

    Though DAMNING for pakistan reputation.

Being a muslim I would support Cardinal to represent this poor girl and also contest this law of blasphemy.

  15. justice seeker says:

    Surprise Surprise,

Why nobody has mentioned anything about the person who threw this paper in the rubbish heap.

What is the system of diposals for quran and arabic papers in Pakistan?

  16. Truth says:

Allegation on Rimsha: According to story narrated in First Information Report, on the 16th day of August 2012 at about 6:45pm a Muslim fellow named as Mohammad Hammad son of Mohammad Riaz claimed that he was present in the street when he saw Rimsha holding a shopping bag in her hands was going to a heap of garbage. Hammad claimed that he suspected that there are papers with Quranic verses in the shopping bag, to which he investigated Rimsha that what was in her hands and where was she going… Rimsha told him that she is going to throw the papers on the heap of garbage. Mohammad Hammad further told in his application to local police, that he saw Islamic papers in the shopping that were partially burnt and that were containing Islamic verses. He demanded a strict legal action against Rimsha for disgracing the holy papers. The officials of Ramna Police station got the case registered under section 295-B of Pakistan Penal Code, Vide FIR No. 303/2012,arrested Rimsha and sent her to jail

This is the man who set up little rimsha. HE BURNT the book and planted it in Rimsha's trash bag. That is why he went into hiding. Like a rat back into his sewer. HE SHOULD FACE THE DEATH PENALTY.

  17. Truth says:

Why would this man just "suspect" that the ripped burnt book was in her bag??????
Does NOT take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Mohammad Hammad DID IT, HE set up an INNOCENT!!! Find this man and bring him to justice. He should be given a life sentance. Come out of your hiding place hammad! COWARD… agent of satan mohammad hammad is!

  18. Truth says:

mohammad hammad started all of this by his deception and lies to an act that HE commited. Any suffering that Rimsha has gone through is on mohammads hands and his God will hold him accountable. For shame mohammad, for shame on you and all who have supported you and hid you. You are a shame apon your family and Allah

  19. peterdewit says:

I feel so sad for the intolerance in so many countries that cause people to hate or react with violence in 'fear of losing power'. I feel much concern for the safety of minority groups, whether it be in Myanmar or China of Pakistan and Iraq. The teachings of Jesus: "Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." If we all could take that stance… One moment comes to mind when Peter took out a sword to fight off the enemies who were about to arrest Jesus… Jesus responds to him, "Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword." Wouldn't the world be a better place if we allow truth and love to have it's full sway and course without trying to protect our own opinions or our idea of truth from apostasy and the like? If our truth is so true…it cannot be chained, it cannot be protected, because in the end.. the true truth will win the day.

  20. Jim says:

I believe it is now time for Pakistan to paint its flag full green. Leaving a white stripe does not make any sense by the seeing the present situation since there won't be many minoritires left in this country in the coming years.

  21. First Knight says:

The CJ takes suo moto notice for all benign matters or where he wants to save his family or PeeMAL-Afternoon. For all significant maters he is hiding in his chambers. if he has any courage he should come out and take suo moto notics for brutalities againist minorities as well shias, hazaras, and all those who are being butchered in the name of Islam.

  22. Sajid says:

Cardinal is knocking highly rusted locked door to get relief and shelter: it is meaningless

  23. Neltajohn says:

Why is the Chief Justice of Pakistan silent? He takes suo notice of every action taken by the executive. CJ please bring justic to this llittle girl.

  24. SKfro says:

Interesting how you all of sudden start begging the CJ for assistance.

Where is your MF god Zardari & Gilani now? You pathetic people will suffer the worst of humiliation, wherever you might be hiding… whether its India or even under Zardari's slippers.

May Allah spite you & your kind for life.

  25. Neltajohn says:

It is the Chief Justice job to bring justice and give up his political agenda. This case is for the CJ to handle and not for Gilani and others. SKfro you are too heartless. Begging the CJ to justice not politics

  26. Neltajohn says:

Remember Allah will spite you first.
