Citizens advised to use boiled water

HYDERABAD - The project director, water testing and surveillance laboratory of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, Dr Muhammad Saleem Memon, on Thursday advised the people of Hyderabad and surrounding areas to filter and boil water before use in order to avoid abdominal diseases like diarrhea. He informed that on the directives of Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Prof Dr Mashoor Alam Shah, a team of experts of the water testing and surveillance laboratory had collected water samples from different parts of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
The water analysis of these collected samples revealed that all samples were turbid, he said, adding the analysis found turbidity between 38 NTU to more than 100 NTU, which is much higher than 5 NTU, the permissible limits of WHO.
The water samples also contained unacceptable number of coliform bacteria E-coli which can cause abdominal disease like diarrhea and dysentery, therefore, the experts advised the people of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas to use filter and boil water to avoid such diseases, he said.
