LAHORE - The weather turned pleasant after downpour in various cities and towns of Punjab and Thar desert in Sindh.
Gujranwala received 40 millimeters rainfall but the drainage problems of the city turned the blessing of rain into misery for people. The roads and streets of Gujranwala immersed under the rainwater. At least six persons were killed and 20 others injured in rain-related incidents in Gujranwala including falling rooftops of houses and shops.
The MET department has forecast more rains in upper and central Punjab during next 24 hours.
In Sindh, thirsty lands of Thar desert rejoiced relief as the nature blessed it with much needed rains. A large area of Thar was hit by drought for last one year causing food and fodder shortage in the cattle breeding land. A large number of people who migrated to canal areas along with their cattle to avoid the drought, are returning to their homes after rainfall.
