CDA who said you could allow encroachments, people ask

CDA-1

ISLAMABAD - After the Capital Development Authority (CDA) decision of stopping the anti-encroachment drive by Eidul Fitr, the residents of the federal capital have expressed concern, contending the move could contribute to traffic jams and restrain shoppers to stroll freely in the shopping places. “We have taken the decision to allow shopkeepers to establish their stalls and setups on footpaths after myriad applications,” CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal said. On the other hand, the CDA chief clarified that no shopkeeper would be allowed to encroach on footpaths except those selling Ramadan and Eid-specific items. Farkhand said that a comprehensive drive to end encroachments in the city markets and residential areas would be launched soon after Eid. It should be mentioned here that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has already directed the civic body to remove all encroachments from the city roads and markets and clear the footpaths occupied by various organisations and offices by placing barricades.
