Finance secretary responsible for Railway crisis: Bilour

Ghulam Ahmed Bilour

ISLAMABAD - Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmad Bilour on Thursday demanded 400 new locomotives and offered to bear any punishment if he failed to overcome the ongoing crisis in the organisation. Speaking during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Railways, Bilour held Waqar Masood Khan, the finance secretary, responsible for the crisis. He said that Khan had not provided funds approved by the cabinet.
“I protested and threatened to resign as minister due to the non-provision of funds, but was still not given any,” he added. He told the committee that India has 8,300 locomotives while Pakistan has only 127 engines, adding that India had not invested in a motorway but had improved its railways.
