Man buries newborn daughter alive in Khanewal
KHANEWAL - A man buried alive his newly born daughter in the Kacha Koh area of Khanewal district for being handicapped, police and witnesses said. Chand Khan, a father of five daughters, had a sixth daughter the other day, who was unfortunately handicapped. Hospital sources said Khan had insisted the doctors poison his daughter, but the doctors refused to do so. Later, Khan took the newborn from the hospital to his village and announced that his daughter was born dead. He asked a local cleric to offer the funeral prayers, but as the prayers were in process, the child started crying, taking the villagers aback. Khan immediately made away with his daughter. Later at night, Khan went to a nearby graveyard and buried the child alive. Residents informed the police of the incident, who arrested the culprit and registered a case against him under Sections 301 and 302. Police have moved a plea in the sessions court for exhumation of the child’s body.
