New CNG buses start disappearing

Lahore - Only five to ten percent of air-conditioned CNG buses launched by the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) were providing transport services on Saturday, causing inconvenience to many commuters. The Punjab government had launched 56 new buses, inaugurated by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, for commuters in November 2011. However, because of ineptitude of officers and lack of proper CNG supply, the services were not available to the people. Passengers of the route B-9, B-33, and B-6 had to wait for hours, sometimes resorting to hire expensive rickshaws to get to their destinations. When contacted, Lahore Transport Company official Amjad Ali said most buses were off the road due to CNG problems and hoped they would start their full operation within few days.
