New appointment

Islamabad - On Wednesday, TV channels flashed the news of the appointment of Mr Wajid Durrani as Director General NAB Sindh. Mr Durrani is a retired police officer who has served in Sindh/Karachi for a long time. At the fag end of his career, Mr Durrani was appointed Inspector General ICT Police and NH& MP in Islamabad. He was lucky to get Grade 22, a few days before his retirement. He is again lucky to get a berth in NAB, an institution that was militarised during the regime of General Pervez Musharraf. With the appointment of professionals in NAB, its image will improve in the eyes of the public.
NAB should be completely demilitarised and depoliticised as a national institution.
