Islamabad braces for DPC protesters

ISLAMABAD - Authorities are negotiating to change the venue of Difa-e-Pakistan Council’s anti-government rally from the Parliament House to Fatima Jinnah Park. Security arrangements have been completed with 1,500 personnel of the Islamabad Capital Police deployed at various points. Security on all checkposts has also been tightened. According to the Interior Ministry, the participants of the march will not be allowed to enter the Red Zone and Fatima Jinnah Park has been specified as the venue for the rally and the sit-in. However, the DPC leaders are insisting on staging the protest outside the Parliament House, against which the authorities are trying to convince the religious alliance leadership. Erecting barbed wires at the entry and exit points of the Red Zone, the police have banned the entry of common citizens.
