PESHAWAR - After having its requests turned down by the governments of Punjab and Sindh, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Wednesday contacted the Balochistan government for transferring Dr Shakil Afridi – the CIA-recruited surgeon who was convicted for treason and links with banned militants. As per details, the KP government has contacted the Balochistan Home Secretariat to shift Dr Afridi to Mach Jail. The KP Home secretary requested the Balochistan Home secretary that Dr Afridi be transferred to Mach Jail due to poor law and order situation in KP. Earlier, the KP government asked the Punjab and Sindh government for relocating Dr Afridi, however, both the provincial governments refused. The Peshawar Central Jail, where Dr Shakil is imprisoned, is on the hit-list of militants, and included in the Red Zone.
