LAHORE - The Medical Teachers Association (MTA) expressed concern over the deteriorating situation of medical institutions in Punjab and condemned police action against young doctors. Addressing an emergency meeting of the association, President of the MTA, Prof. Riaz Tasneem and General Secretary Prof. Muhammad Amjad said that the Punjab government should release all arrested doctors in order to restore the sanctity of the medical profession. The MTA further stated they would not leave the patients unattended in this critical situation and vowed to provide all possible healthcare. However, due to the absence of doctors, patients may have trouble in receiving medical attention, he added. Tasneem and Amjad made a fervent appeal to the Punjab government for taking positive initiatives in resolving the prevalent situation.
