Commissioner for crackdown on sale of fireworks

KARACHI - Karachi Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh has directed a crackdown on the preparation and sale of the fireworks. He issued instructions to this effect to the deputy commissioners of all the five districts in the city, says a statement on Tuesday. He said that under section 144 the ban on preparation and sale of the fireworks be ensured for 15 days. The commissioner said that the manufacturing of fireworks in populated areas as well as their godowns be eliminated in order to avoid the casualties in case of any mishap. He also called for action against those involved in preparing and storage of fireworks.
