80 fined for selling substandard items

RAWALPINDI - Assistant Commissioner Qurat-ul-Ain on Monday paid surprise visits to different markets of the city and imposed fine amounting to Rs 180,000 on 80 shopkeepers for selling substandard items and violating approved rate lists.
The raids were conducted in the areas of Ratta Amral, Ganj Mandi, Sadiqbabad, Waris Khan and Pirwadhai where citizens were frequently complaining against the sale of unhygienic meat and other edible items on exorbitant rates. The assistant commissioner issued challan tickets to the owners of general stores and meat stalls, who were found involved in selling poor quality items. She also warned the shopkeepers to ensure sale of quality items at controlled rates, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
