ISLAMABAD - In a bid to reduce its administrative expenses, the Governing Board of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to be dissolved soon.
Reliable sources told that after reducing the manpower to deal with the budget deficits, as administrative expenses take up a big chunk of the budget, the PCB Chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf opposed the continuation of its governing board which completed its term on April 2012.
The 11 member governing board, monitors the steps taken by PCB for promotion and expansion of the game as well as looks at the financial matters of cricket board for its smooth running.
Amir Nawab (Abbottabad), Major (R) Naeem Akhtar Gilani (Rawalpindi), Tariq Baloch (Quetta), Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar (Faisalabad) and Haider Ali Khan Talpur have completed their PCB governing board terms and they would be replaced with members from other regions like Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan and Karachi.
“PCB chairman also used his political influence to veto the PCB governing board and introduce new advisory board to assist him in PCB affairs”, source claimed, adding that the PCB Chairman has also started to make a summary over this issue which will be sent to PCB patron in chief and President Asif Ali Zardari soon.
