NEPRA ups power tariff by Rs 1.51 per unit

Increase

ISLAMABAD - The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has raised power tariff by Rs 1.51 per unit on account of fuel adjustment for the month of May 2012. The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) had proposed an increase of Rs 1.52 per unit in power tariff. The Ministry of Water and Power considered the hike in power tariff “urgent” owing to the expensive equipment used in power generation. The tariff will be applicable from December 2012.

So what is the new tariff? Considering this is such a critical issue nowadays it won’t be a bad idea to write what the current slabs are, how they are calculated and what are the rates in neighbouring/similar countries
