Kaira hints at a ‘new judiciary’

kaira

Islamabad - Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has hinted at putting in place a new judiciary, saying parliament was the supreme body and could do that.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, the minister said Pakistan People’s Party was ready to create a new judiciary as it was enshrined in the charter of democracy (CoD) between Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif. He said Nawaz was backing off from his commitment which he made in CoD. Kaira said parliament had created the constitution and it had the power to create a new one.
He alleged that the courts in Islamabad and Lahore always took up cases against the PPP, but did not take up cases against the Sharif brothers. Kaira said President Asif Ali Zardari was not the chairman of the PPP, instead he was made co-chairperson in the given certain circumstances. The minister said Raja Pervez Ashraf was a choice of Benazir Bhutto, adding that the prime minister was not responsible for power crisis in the country. He claimed that it was bureaucracy, which provided Ahsraf with wrong facts and figures while he was at the helm of affairs at the Ministry of Water and Power. He said the PPP put in place a common worker as prime minister while Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif could not dare to appoint their workers as prime minister.

If Parliament can create law, being a legislative body, why should it need some other institute to interpret it. If the representatives of people can create the constitution, shouldn’t they be allowed to safeguard it.

  6. I think after the failure of their conspiracy against chief justice, they are inclined towards demolishing the whole institution of judiciary. This is the only task of demolishing national institutions, which PPP has achieved successfully and now only two institutions army and judiciary are left otherwise the job is done successfully.

Why blame 'Punjab' and "Punjabis' as usual? The Old scapegoat that everyone hides behind?
The last time the Punjab card was used, we had a civil war and lost Dhaka and a lot of good people.

  17. Shahid says:

Restoration of Dual PCO Iftikhar was unconstitutional. Now, his corruption has also come to light with undeniable evidence. Iftikhar's claim in open court with Holy Quran in front of him that he never asked Arsalan about what he did nor did he know anything about his occupation is clear proof that he is a liar of the highest order and not fit to sit on the chair of an ordinary Magistrate. He must quit or be sacked.

How can an Islamic constitution be made by parliment, it is from God you can only do the implementatio. Kaira is forgetting its Islamic republic not people republic of pakistan.

PPP is only thinking short term. They want to change everything just so it would serve their purpose right now. They have no interest in what happens long term. Musa gillani has sold way too many drugs to these low life ppp workers and now their brain is fried and they can't think straight.

    • HamidNawaz says:

Let us see what arguements u bring in judiciary favor if after next election power hungry C***J starts disturbing Imran or Nawaz. Historical example: Nawaz supported ChiefJustice SC Sajjad Shah against Benazir, and BB warned Nawaz not to support him in his illegal acts. So, when Nawaz came to power in 1997, CJ Sajjad started disturbing Nawaz also, and Nawaz supporters were crying against Sajjad. This history will be repeated now. There is some sense in what PPP men say. Pay heed.

  22. Chaudhry Boota says:

excellent post..HamidNawaz…these short sighted lacha wearing punjabis need to reflect a bit…!
