DNA report finds one BMP official guilty of rape

DERA GHAZI KHAN - The DNA report of the members of the Border Military Police, who had allegedly raped five women, blamed one official — Ahmed Zafar — for raping victim Salma on Tuesday. Three suspects, Amjad Ali, Zafar and Naveed Iqbal, had been arrested, while two others are at large. The victims identified the fourth suspect as Majeed Leghari. BMP Commandant Tariq Basra was removed as a result of the development. The district coordination officer (DCO) obtained the report and summoned a meeting to change the BMP commandant and deliberate over the duties of other officials. The DNA report will be made available to the media. The rape victims had told during an investigation that they could identify all five personnel accused of the crime, including the two men who had escaped.
