Rs 75m in loans given to kiln workers: minister

LAHORE - Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said the department had provided Rs 75 million in interest-free micro-credit to kilns workers in two districts for the elimination of bonded labour, child labour and exploitation of workers.
Talking to a delegation of industrial workers on Saturday, he said veterinary staff had visited 154 kilns and provided treatment to 448 animals of labourers.
He stated that free education, including books, stationery, transport and uniform were also being provided to 28,000 children of workers in 49 workers welfare schools of the province.
