A gang robbed a local bank of Rs 4.6 million in Nazimabad area of Karachi on Friday, police said. The five robbers entered the branch of a private bank situated in Chawla Market in the Rizvia police precincts at 9:15am, took the staff hostage on gunpoint and looted the money. Police registered a case and started investigations. Bank robberies are rampant in Karachi. Earlier this month, in the fifth robbery of the year, bandits took away Rs 3.5 million from a bank in the Defence Housing Authority. In another robbery on May 14, Rs 6.8 million was taken away in a bank heist in Naval Colony in Baldia Town. The police said at least four armed bandits entered the private bank branch located in Badar Commercial area. Similarly on April 24, armed robbers got away with Rs 9.5 million after they ransacked a private bank situated in a posh area of the metropolis. A security guard was on their side.
