Mehdi Hassan laid to rest in Karachi

KARACHI - Legendary ghazal singer Mehdi Hasan was laid to rest at the Shah Mohammad Shah graveyard in New Karachi after Friday payers. Earlier, his namaz-e-janaza was offered at Noorani Masjid ground where his sons, family members and a large number of people belonging to various walks of life attended the funeral. Prominent among them included Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, provincial ministers Pir Mazhar, Raza Haroon, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Rafique Engineer, film star Nadeem Baig, Qazi Wajid, Ustad Salamat Ali, and Amjad Sabri. The king of ghazals breathed his last in a private hospital on Wednesday after a protracted illness.
