IGP for additional deployment of police

KARACHI - The Inspector Genera of Police (IGP) Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, has called for additional deployment of police personnel at conspicuous places in the crime-affected areas. A police statement here on Monday said that he has also directed the provision of bullet-proof jackets to them ne ensured. It said that the IGP Sindh also instructed that the police patrolling, picketing and snap checking be made more effective and coordinated. Mushtaq Shah has also sought a report on the investigation of the cases of extortion, target killings etc since January 2012. He said that the steps taken against such complaints and incidents during the past six months should also be pointed out in the report. The IGP directed that the concerned SSPs should prepare a schedule of meeting with the representatives of traders’ bodies so that security measures in this regard should be further beefed up. He was of the view that the need of the hour is to take steps against crimes in collaboration with the law-abiding people. Mushtaq Shah also called for fostering the concept of community policing in this regard so that cooperation of the people be sought in curbing the crimes.
