CS seeks reports about monsoon preparation

KARACHI - Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas has sought a comprehensive report about machinery and equipment pertaining to the flood and rain emergency operation.
The Secretaries of Irrigation, Local Government, Rehabilitation and Relief Commissioner Sindh shall furnish the reports within 24 hours, said an official statement here on Wednesday. It said that Raja Abbas has called such reports while presiding a meeting on Wednesday.
Secretary Rehabilitation, Suhail Akbar Shah, informed the meeting that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has prepared the provincial Monsoon Contingencies Plan, while in all districts of Sindh the district Monsoon Contingencies Plans have also been prepared to combat rain/ monsoon 2012.
He also maintained that Jamshoro, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kamber Shahdadkot and Larkana are vulnerable, as hill torrents become active in these districts after rain fall. The Chief Secretary advised all concerned departments to coordinate with the divisional/district administration and PDMA to tackle any situation that may arise during the monsoon 2012 adequately.
