LAHORE - The Punjab Finance Department has yet to sign and forward the case for increasing the house job seats at the province’s hospitals, to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for final approval.
As a result, 250 house officers across Punjab are being forced to work without pay. Young Doctors Association office bearers, including Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Murtaza Bloch, Dr Shahid Dreshik, Dr Waqas Gondal, Dr Shehzad, Dr Muhammad Azhar and Dr Muhammad Amjad have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to request Finance Secretary Tariq Bajwa to resolve the matter so that the doctors can get their salaries.
The YDA added that according to the PMDC, the Punjab government was bound to provide fully-paid house jobs to the medical graduates, as the government had increased 950 seats in medical colleges.
The association said the seats need to be increased at the government hospitals to resolve the issue of unpaid house jobs.
