Four cops among 8 injured in acid attack

BAHAWALNAGAR - At least eight people, including four policemen, were injured when unidentified robbers threw acid on their faces in local bazaar here on Thursday. According to police, the robbers were looting a jewellery shop in Chaman Bazaar, Haroonabad, when a police team reached the scene. When police officials came closer, the robbers threw acid at them, injuring four cops and four civilians, officials said.
The injured policemen have lost their eyesight due to the acid attack, officials added. The policemen injured in the attack include Inspector Maqsood, ASI Muzaffar, Kashif and Asghar. One of the attackers was arrested. The injured were shifted to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed that the victims’ eyes had been affected. Police have started a search operation for the culprits involved in the incident.
