Route violators fined, vehicles impounded

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Transport Authority Secretary Khawaja Maqbool Mustafa conducted surprise traffic checking on various city routes and imposed fines of Rs 26,200 on public transport vehicles for route violations and overcharging. The checking was conducted at routes 105, 121,136 and 104. The secretary challaned 43 public transport vehicles for violating traffic rules. He also impounded six vehicles for not completing the designated routes. He issued warning to the violators to complete their routes and charge fixed fares from commuters failing which their vehicles would be impounded. He added the traffic checking drive would continue to address commuters’ problems on the spot.
