Another wave of killings? Ban pillion riding again

KARACHI - With a wave of targeted killings sweeping across the city in the past one week, the Sindh government on Tuesday imposed a ban on motorcycle pillion riding in the city until February 5 – the 12th of Rabiul Awal. The Sindh Home Department issued a notification banning pillion riding to ensure foolproof security measures during Rabiul Awal. The ban, which will come into force from today (Wednesday), was imposed to ensure the security of citizens during religious gatherings on the occasion of Rabiul Awal 12. According to the notification, women, children below 12 years of age, senior citizens, handicapped persons, journalists, law enforcement agencies’ uniformed personnel and employees of essential services will be exempted from the ban.
