Girl dies of burn injuries

LAHORE - Saadia Ilyas, 20, resident of Dhobi Ghaat, Baghbanpura, died after receiving burn injuries in the Baghbanpura Police Station precincts on Sunday.
Police said Saadia was trying to light a heater when her duppatta caught fire. She was taken to a nearby hospital for medical aid, where she succumbed to her injuries. Hospital administration handed the body to family after legal formalities.
Youth commits
suicide: Tanveer, 23, resident of Waqas Town, committed suicide by hanging himself in the Manawan Police Station precincts on Sunday.
Police said Tanveer got disheartened of his prolonged illness, locked himself in his room and hanged himself to death. Tanveer’s family rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors confirmed him dead.
Road accident: Muhammad Imran, 28, resident of Green Town, died, while his friend Abdul Samad received injuries during an accident with a donkey cart in the Kotlakhpat Police Station precincts on Sunday.
Police said that the accident happened on the Chandraye Road, when Imran’s motorcycle collided with a donkey cart. Locals rushed them to the General Hospital, where Imran died, while Samad was said to be in critical condition. The donkey cart owner was handed over to the police by the locals after they had thrashed him and a case was registered against on the complaint of Imran’s father.
Fire claims
valuables: Fire claims valuables worth Rs 4 million in a plastic factory located on Din Road, Badami Bagh on Sunday. The fire erupted in the factory of Abdul Razzaq due to short circuiting, engulfing the entire factory. Rescue 1122 and the fire brigade personnel extinguished the fire after the effort of about an hour.
DIG reviews security arrangements: Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar reviewed security arrangements for the Shiite central procession, which will emerge on Monday (today).
He inspected all procession routes and discussed necessary issues of security with Shiite Ulema and the members of the District Peace Committee. The deployment of 3,000 police personnel was also announced. Moreover, 30 close-circuit cameras and 28 walk-through gates have been installed, while 400 volunteers have been instructed to remain alert round the clock.
