US CG visits school for hearing-impaired

US CG

KARACHI - US Consul General in Karachi William Martin visited the Deaf Reach School and Training Centre on Tuesday.
The school has been set up by the Family Education Services Foundation.
Martin was briefed on the school and its programmes by Richard Geary and Daniel Marc Lanthier, the executive director and director of the school, respectively.
The school, one of the four for hearing-impaired students in Sindh, teaches vocational skills to children, teenagers and young adults in urban and rural areas, empowering them to become self-sufficient. Courses are designed to meet their specific academic and vocational needs.
“It’s so inspiring to see the incredible work the students are able to accomplish here at the school,” Martin said on the occasion. “The students have the ability and they want to achieve. They need a different kind of learning environment and I commend the school for providing that,” he added.
Martin’s visit to the school demonstrates the US’ ongoing support and commitment towards improving the quality of life for marginalised and disadvantaged children in Pakistan and around the world.
