Profiteers booked, fined

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Secretariat Assistant Commissioner Nauman Yousuf conducted raids at hotels and snack shops at Rawal Lake and its adjoining areas and fined shopkeepers for selling substandard food items and overcharging the customers.
The AC Secretariat inspected hotels and snack shops and challaned five hotels for unhygienic and poor sanitary conditions and selling substandard food items, said a press release issued here on Sunday.
The AC also warned the hotel owners and snack shops to improve sanitary conditions failing which stern action would be taken against them. He also visited the adjoining area of Rawal Lake and imposed fine worth Rs 7,500 on 10 stall holders for overcharging food items and for not displaying the rate list. The ICT administration has also launched an anti-profiteering drive in Islamabad. Shopkeepers and stall holders have been directed to ensure display of rate lists of food items and ensure quality of food items failing which stern action would be taken and heavy fines imposed on the violators.
