CITIZENS PROTEST

Lahore - Against too few overhead bridges:
Demanding the construction of an overhead bridge from ‘Shah di Khoi’ to Jinnah Chowk, locals staged a protest on the Canal Road near Jinnah Hospital that ended up aggravating the traffic congestion situation in the region.
The vehicles stood for waiting for two hours before Chief Traffic Officer Mubeen Ahmad reached the spot and agreed to their demands.
Against LDA for ‘grabbing’ land:Residents of Lahore’s suburban localities including Kahna, Kacha, Saider, Tor, Jhedo and Thah Panju protested against the Lahore Development Authority for ‘grabbing’ their agricultural lands to convert them into residential schemes. Accusing LDA of cheating them, they said “What about the previous 15-year-old schemes which have not even been completed yet?” They demanded of the chief minister to take notice of the issue.
Against dilapidated roads: The residents of Askari-V Housing Complex near Kalma Chowk, Gulberg, expressed resentment over the negligence of the authorities and have called for quick repair and expansion of the Gulberg L Block road that leads to the colony.
They said the road was dug months ago and was never repaired, adding that the uneven road does not only damage their vehicles but also causes allergy because of the dust in the air.
