Man dies of dengue fever bringing the total deaths to 14

KARACHI - A 64-year-old dengue fever patient died at a private hospital in Karachi on Tuesday, bringing the number of dengue-induced deaths to 14 in the province this year.
The man was a resident of New Sabzi Mandi, said an official of the Dengue Surveillance Cell of the Sindh Health Department.
The youngest of the dengue fever-induced deaths registered at the cell is of a 14-month-old-girl on October 13 and the eldest patient to succumb to the infection was a 70-year-old man who expired on September 15.
The official said that the first death reported this year was in February and after a gap of six months the second fatality was registered in September.
Out of the 14 deaths, 12 were in Karachi and one each in Ghotki and Hyderabad. A 17-year-old girl lost her life in Ghotki while the dengue victim in Hyderabad was a 64-year-old man.
