EPD seals SNGPL, tyre warehouses

LAHORE -  City District Government Lahore Environment Protection Department (EPD) sealed Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited’s warehouse in Manga Mandi on Wednesday. During inspection, a team headed by EPD Deputy District Officer Zahid Yunis found dengue larvae in pipes and other items kept in the warehouse, as the management was ignoring precautionary guidelines regarding dengue. A notice was served to the management under Punjab Local Government Ordinance, 2001, sources said. The EPD also sealed a tyre warehouse in Ludhar (Cantt) area. EPD sources said an old tyre warehouse was found to be a breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes, as standing water was found in the tyres. The owner had not adhered to the EPD’s directions regarding safety precautions needed to be taken to eliminate dengue. The warehouse was sealed and a notice was issued to the owner under the Punjab Local Government Ordinance, 2001.
