President, PM greet Obama on Independence Day

ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday congratulated the United States President Barack Obama on his country’s independence day.
In his message, Zardari expressed hope that relations between the two countries, bound by values of freedom and democracy, will continue to strengthen. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani also greeted the US president. “On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, i will like to convey our warmest greetings to you and the Americans as you celebrate the Independence Day,” he said.
Gilani said Pakistan and the US are committed to transform their relationship into a broad based partnership. He expressed firm belief that the countries will continue to work together and make a meaningful contribution to regional security and international peace. “There is a need to consolidate ongoing efforts in areas of common interest and to expand cooperation in social sectors, as envisaged under the Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue,” the prime minister maintained.
