LAHORE - The Punjab Budget 2011-12 will be development-oriented and the government will also increase salaries of government employees, Punjab Health Parliamentary Secretary Saeed Elahi said on Thursday.
He was talking to journalists after inaugurating two latest x-ray machines worth Rs 20 million at Jinnah Hospital. Saeed said that improvement of the health sector is a priority of the Punjab CM and ongoing health projects would be completed first. The Punjab health parliamentary secretary said that the purpose of purchasing mobile health units was to provide medical facilities to rural people at their doorstep, as poor people in far-flung areas have an equal right over medical facilities as compared to people of big cities. He disclosed that a summary for pay package of pharmacists was being prepared and they would also be given their right.
Earlier, Jinnah Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Javed Akram highlighted the medical facilities being provided to poor patients free-of-cost at Jinnah Hospital. Professor Nasir Zaidi informed about the services being provided by the radiology department. He appealed to journalists that before publishing or telecasting news regarding closure of any machine, it should be first verified from the in-charge of the department concerned so that correct information could be provided to people.
