Six more injured in Yemen protests

SANAA - At least another six people were shot and wounded in Yemen on Tuesday as troops moved to quell demonstrations demanding the immediate ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, witnesses said. Activists were keeping up demonstrations for a second day after rejecting a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) plan for an orderly transition that would allow Saleh to hand over power to his deputy in 30 days.
The protesters oppose the softer line taken by the Common Forum, a Yemeni parliamentary opposition coalition which agreed to the GCC proposal. Troops used live ammunition against crowds in the town of Taez, 200 kilometres (125 miles) south of the capital Sanaa, an organiser of the protest, Ahmed Wafi, told AFP.
