KARACHI - Pakistan is in dire need of an education revolution so that failures, shortcomings and sense of deprivation among people can be rooted out, said Sindh Industries and Commerce Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Friday while speaking as chief guest at the awards distribution ceremony of the University of Karachi (KU) Department of Mathematics' Information Technology Programme. "The education system of the country has been plagued by various shortcomings since the past 63 years, and there is a need for the nation to unite and bring about a revolution in the field of education for a better future," Siddiqui said.
He further argued that revolutionising the system will be achievable if every student starts educating a person in his family or neighbourhood. Siddiqui urged industrialists to hire graduates of IT, Engineering and Finance on internships, claiming that the government will provide businessmen with incentives in this regard. The minister also announced giving 20 computers to the KU Information Department. Each student who performed will in their course was handed over Rs 1,000 as well as certificates from the Sindh government. KU Vice-Chancellors Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza also addressed the awards distribution ceremony.
