Govt preparing its case to get paid by Saudi bank for Nawab Bahawal’s buildings

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan is going to lodge a case in the Saudi court for the recovery of millions of riyals lying with State Bank of the Kingdom as price money of the demolished residential buildings once owned by Nawab Bahawal Khan Abbasi in Makkah for its inclusion in the Haram Sharif premises, Religious Affairs Secretary Agha Sarwar Raza Qazlibash told a press conference on Monday.
The said property was purchased by Nawab Bahawal Khan Abbasi in 1893 and later transferred in the name of a trust. Nawab's grandson Brigadier Muhammad Abbas Abbasi had named government of Pakistan as the trustee, Qazlibash informed, adding that the amount received would be used to purchase residential buildings in Makkah Mukarima to provide accommodation to the pilgrims from Pakistan. Medical facility had been provided to 21,655 Pakistani hujjaj, while 15 Pakistani hujjaj died so far out of the total 94,257, he said.
